Studio Job has collaborated with the Italian brand Seletti to create FELIX, a wireless lamp shaped like a life-sized cat. Modeled after the feline companion of Job Smeets, the piece serves as a functional sculpture that captures a cat in a curious and alert posture. The design integrates practical features, such as eyes that illuminate with LED light and a USB charging port located discretely beneath the tail. This artistic creation reflects a blend of pop culture aesthetics and functional home decor, transforming a common household pet into a glowing statement piece for contemporary interiors.
The cat lamp is crafted with attention to anatomical detail, featuring a textured surface that mimics the appearance of fur through the use of resin. By utilizing a dimmable lighting system, the intensity of the glowing eyes can be adjusted to suit different environments. This project showcases the ability to merge whimsical storytelling with industrial production, resulting in a playful yet sophisticated object. The collaboration emphasizes the unconventional approach to everyday lighting, where the boundaries between fine art and mass-produced design become increasingly blurred through unique materiality and rechargeable technology.
